Food Porn of the Day!
The other day, my best friend showed me this super easy recipe for Spicy Moroccan Shrimp with Yogurt, which she had seen on our favorite blog, Cup Of Jo, which, if you need a major girl crush on a blogger living a seemingly perfect stylish-blogger-semi-hipster life with her handsome-bearded-hipster-writer husband and gorgeous baby who is always dressed in Etsy’s finest, in their beautifully decorated apartment in the West Village, in which they entertain interesting and stylish friends who like wine and ironic mustache parties, you should totally check out. The obsession is worth it, people.
Anyway, my friend tried this recipe and reported back that it was FAST (10 minutes to make!) and flavorful, but if you’re making it for adults, add a little bit more Cayenne if that’s your thing. It’s really just a pile of delicious shrimp; even with Naan served on the side it’s not that substantial. So, she made a salad of greens dressed with a simple lemon-dijon vinaigrette, thus turning the meal more into a “Pan-Imperialist Culinary Adventure” (a little bit of Morocco and its former French Imperialist influence, combined with a little bit of India and its former British-Imperialist influence).
If I were making this for a casual dinner with my bestie (we’d already be drunk on white wine and would eat this in front of her TV watching something featuring Ewan McGreggor or “Hoarders”) or as Phase One in a seduction of a beau, I would serve it on whole grain CousCous, with roasted chickpeas as a starter/wine snack and a refreshing, minty cucumber salad on the side (with quick pickled Maui onion)…cause that shit sounds fancy!
However, due to my limited mobility, appetite, and culinary ambition tonight, I will save this for later instead eat some Sugar Free Jell-O while I edit a video and watch “Jersey Shore”…cause that shit sounds even fancier!
